May, 1999

May 27: Removed all Walter de la Mare poems upon request of his estate. Most but not all are still in copyright. Oops!!

November, 1998

November 28: Continued updating bibliographic info.
November 25: Continued updating bibliographic info.
November 23: Added some links from top 10 fairy novels list and my unfinished folklore bibliography
November 20: Added dictionary entry for Changeling, plus a few other short dictionary entries and modifications.
November 4: Added some Swedish Changeling Tales, updated some stuff under Fairies in Text. Added a poem about the Swedish spirit the Näcken

September, 1998

September 17: Added poem, The House Goblin, describing a domestic Swedish hobgoblin. Also The Old Mountain Troll.

May, 1998

May 11: Added The Merry Pranks of Robin Goodfellow
May 7: Typed in a story, The Fairies Who Didn't Stay, from New England, where fairy stories are rare to say the least.

February, 1998

February 21: Added dictionary entry for Näcken. Added a page about the Carolan tune, Si Beag Si Mor. Added 2 pages of Hebridean waulking songs about fairies: Mo chùbhrachain and Crodh Chailein.

January, 1998

January 24: Continued cleaing stuff up. Added handy index on end of each page.
January 23: Redid format of main page, updated some links, cleaned some old messy stuff up.

November, 1997

November 18: Learned ABC notation, added Music to article on Tam Lin

October, 1997

October 3: Added Danish ballads: The Elfin Shaft
October 2: Added Goethe's original German text of Erlkönig
October 1: Started transcribing Child's article on Tam Lin.

September, 1997

September 3: Looked at page for first time in months, got rid of some non-working links, fixed the comments section, updated the scripts to use Pike, version 0.5.

March, 1997

March 13: Added fancy lettering to the story archive for those with graphics browsers.
March 6: Added pages for fairy references in the poems of William Collins and Lord Tennyson.
Revamped layout of story archive. Here it is

March 5: Added fairy references from works of Andrew Marvell, fairy references in Robert Herrick.

February, 1997

February 28: Added Keightley's German Prologue, a story on the Nykur, which is the water horse of Iceland.
February 6: Added Fairy References in Chaucer. Fairy references in Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable.
February 5: Got 32 More megs! 48 Megs total! Now I can run X and Netscape and emacs without problem!
February 4: Added Pre-Raphaelite art: John W. Waterhouse's "Hylas and the Water Nymphs" and "La Belle Dame Sans Merci"; Frederick Sandys' "Morgan le Fey".

January, 1997

January 30: Started typing in Alfred Nutt's essay, "The Fairy Mythology of Shakespeare".
January 29: Adjusted the format of the main faerie page slightly
January 28: Found a complete version of Bishop Corbet's "The Fairies' Farewell". Started typing in Drayton's "Nymphidia". Added poems: "The Fairy" by Blake; "Song of Fairies Robbing an Orchard" by Leigh Hunt. Fairy References in English Literature.
January 25: Added Child ballads 4, 35 and 40.
January 24: Added a page listing all Fairy References in the works of Shakespeare.
January 14, 8:05am: My father, Stanley Garvin, dies of heart failure, at the age of 58, mere days before he is due for heart surgery.
January 13: Added "A Dissertation on Fairies" by Joseph Ritson (an early 19th century essay susposedly concerning popular belief but actually an examination of fairies in literature); Semi-automated the process of adding internet sites to search, so the internet search should soon be more up to date and easy to change.
Added Biographies of artists, writers, and folklorists. Added dictionary entry, Fairies' Farewell.
January 12: Started work on Chapter VII of Henderson's Folk Lore of the Northern Counties, that part of the work that deals with fairies.
January 11: Added quote from Smith of Wootten Major; Added artwork: fairy on a mushroom and some fairies dancing.
January 10: Added poem, Alice Brand (an excerpt) by Sir Walter Scott. Added photograph of J.G. Campbell, the famous Scottish Folklorist.
January 9: Added page on the many works of George MacDonald. Added dictionary entries:

January 8: Added poems:

January 2: Added Complete Fairy Links page. Started Robert Hunt's Popular Romances of the West of England page. Started J.G. Campbell's Superstitions of the Highlands.

December, 1996

Added remainder of Phantastes.
Added Faery Novels, Faery Short Stories, Faerie Music, and Faeries in Role-Playing Games.
Added Crofton Croker's Fairy Legends and Traditions.
Added fairy stories from Lady Wilde's Ancient Legends of Ireland
Began entering in Thomas Keightley's The Fairy Mythology.
Typed in Chapter 13 of Lady Gregory's Visions and Beliefs in the West of Ireland, concerning Amadan-na-Briona, the Fool of the Forth.

December 23: Added first 6 chapters of George MacDonald's Phantastes.
December 22: Added Irish Fairy and Folk Tales by Yeats (several sections of his famous book).
December 16: Added page of sites that link to my page.
December 12: Added story The Pixies of Dartmoor. Started work on restoring faerie art archive. Touched up a few dictionary entries.
December 11: Finish final exams for the semester. Yay!

November, 1996

November 27: Added story The Fairy Frog. Categorized comments by date.
November 23: Added story Einion Las and the Fair Family
November 17: Added story Legend of Knockgrafton.

October, 1996

October 24: Back of faerie archive from May found, missing pictures. At 1pm it is restored.
October 23: latest Slackware installed. Faeryland again working.
October 18: The big crash. Almost everything done on page between late May and this date was lost.

May, 1996

May 9: Added text to dictionary entry for huldre-folk.
Added a story of help by the huldre-folk, in The Tusse Help with the Harvest.
May 8: Began the Arthur Rackham art page.
May 3: Added story: The Gold-haired Girl of Unst
May 1: Rewrote that important, main dictionary entry: fairies
