A lectern stands in front of the screen, waiting for someone to step up and address those present in the room (which is none, at the moment). In keeping with everything you've seen so far, it lacks any seals, emblems, or insignia you might typically find on a lectern in a UNDC facility.

It was the thirty-ninth Rebcjek; one of the ones they only give out to oldhaus writers, I was only there with the television people, on a panel of commentators. (They were lag-screening my words, you know. If I'd said anything out of turn they'd have got me out of there in a shot with no damage done). Nothing actually happening on the podium at the moment; there are always hours of obligatory mingling at these things before anything even begins to happen. At least if you're with the TV people you only get asked moderately stupid questions.

Polished fine-grained wood, very nice. Silver runes are inlaid into the surface: tiny wands, stars, scrolls, axes, and the like, which all together form the outline of a brass lantern, the official symbol of the XYZZY awards.
