The top surface of the pedestal supports a marvellous broadsword. It lies placed perfectly across the center of the square surface; to either side of it runes of an ancient mode have been skillful incised.

You notice that the sturdy pedestals are narrowly attached to the walls, having been carved out of the rock itself. The glass cubes on top are remarkably thick, but the relics within can still be glimpsed.

Gateway of the Ferrets (2019)

The massive pedestal is taller than you and sits in the middle of the ledge. It has a few lines of writing on it at approximately eye level. Its eastern side is lined with a thin mesh. A hollow trim formed from a tube wraps its bottom edge, and there is a small round hole a short distance above the tube. The top of it has two platforms on its eastern and western sides. There is also a little patch of rough dirt on the ground at the base of the pedestal facing the chasm edge.
[if first time, add:] Something about the pedestal gives off a faint Land of the Lost vibe. Perhaps it is the gateway control and the way back out.

The waist-high pedestal is ornately carved from the solid rock of the cave. The detail carvings seem to refer to a curse, but you cannot be 100% certain you are translating the ancient symbols accurately.

The coffin of the great Prime Commander can only be opened when the great magical key, stolen from a far away planet (filled with a nasty oxygen-atmosphere and lots of dihydrogen monoxide) in the milky way galaxy in the 1970"s, is placed upon this pedestal and lets its beautifull red light fall upon the remains of our Great Leader.
