DavidW says, "If we want a pleasant game, I suppose our best bet is Espresso Moka. It’ll probably be about making coffee in the most guess-the-command-y way."

Jacqueline smiles. "Okay."

DavidW says, "But for escapism, I would recommend Cut the Sky."

Jacqueline asks, "Oh? What’s it about?"

DavidW says, "I’ve played that one fully, but it’s not difficult. It’s like Gun Mute, but with the sword/knife instead of a gun."

DavidW says, "It’s sorta set in a post-apocolpyse future that’s still kinda nice."

Jacqueline says (to DW), "Oh, hm. No, let’s play something you haven’t experienced yet."

DavidW says, "Should I remove games I’ve played then? I don’t expect to always be the driver."

Jacqueline says, "Hrm. Well, I don’t have much brain right now."

DavidW says, "ah"

DavidW says, "well, I haven’t played Espresso Moka at all. I have played the previous game with the same characters, though."

DavidW says, "Portrait with Wolf is more of an art piece than a game. Surreal with many many endings. I "played" a little of it, to get to two endings, but I hear there’s dozens."

DavidW says, "Probably not the game for today, though."

Jacqueline asks, "Too dark?"

DavidW asks, "uh, I don’t know how dark it gets. It’s got this weird vibe that involves the game needing to be played over and over, like Pick Up The Phone Booth and Die, and I think it bases some stuff on what came before? Maybe?"

DavidW says, "It’s not really like anything else I’ve played before."

Jacqueline says, "Ah. I mean, if it’s well written that might be good - lots of content for you explore still. But I’m fine with whatever."

DavidW says, "I just wish I had a better feeling about Espresso Moka, if it’s like anything Breakfast in the Dolomites was."

Jacqueline says, "Well, since it sounds short, we could knock that out first."

DavidW says, "okay. here goes nuthin'"

On the street
You have left the central square behind you (to the south) and are now heading north along the main road of the town. On the west side of the street are the windows of a large building, and on the east side a large window of a clothes store.

While Monica carefully examines the shop window, you, not interested, remember that the capsules for your coffee machine at home are running out.
"Mo, we must remember to buy coffee capsules: they are running out." — you say.
"Sure Ciccio: the shop is just ahead." — she replies.

>

DavidW >> x Mo

On the street

> X MO

Tall, slim with lots of slightly reddish, frizzy hair and sparkling green eyes.
Could you not fall in love with her?
A peppy girl, she won’t forgive you anything you do that she doesn’t like, but deep down she has her heart beating for you.
You got used to shortening her name to Mo.
She wears a pair of jeans, a striped camisole and a pair of shimmering gold sneakers.
She also wears a shiny black handbag.

>

DavidW >> x me

On the street

> X ME

A guy, about 30 years old, with blond hair and blue eyes.
You work as a software engineer, enjoy photography and love hiking in the mountains.
In love with your girlfriend, very beautiful, but also shrewish when something doesn’t go her way. In the end you always please her and she appreciates it.
Monica sometimes calls you Ciccio.
You wear a black t-shirt, a pair of beige pants and a pair of blue sneakers.

"Hey Ciccio!" — Monica claims your attention — "Do you think I’m shrewish too?"

Jacqueline says, "Awkward"

asparagus says, "Happy puzzling. It’s past my bed time. Was good to see you, Jacqueline."

DavidW asks, "uh…. she can read our internal narration?"

Jacqueline says (to asparagus), "You too. Take care."

DavidW says, "bye asparagus"

Jacqueline says (to DW), "Yeah, Add telepathic to the list of qualities."

asparagus says, "Night, DW."

Jacqueline asks, "no?"

DavidW >> no

"I knew you were nicer than that game’s author." — Monica says.

Monica, I’m thrilled to let you know that the author has decided to tweak the description a bit to make it more gentle.
"Narrator, please return my thanks to the author." — she replies.
Absolutely, Miss Monica, but now let’s get back to the game.

>

Jacqueline asks, "Huh. Meta?"

Jacqueline says, "Weird."

DavidW says, "In the last game, Mo and everyone in the hotel were actors playing their roles around you."

DavidW says, "Every now and then there was a fourth wall break, and they did a curtain call bow at the end when you won."

DavidW says, "but yes, weird"

"It’s better not to mention it," — you suggest — "I don’t want players to run away thinking they have to search all the pockets for the wallet."
You both start to laugh.

Through the glass you can see a wooden shelf on which colored mokas are placed.

DavidW asks, "Mokas are waiters without shirts…?"

Jacqueline asks, "We just need packets not a whole pot, right?"

DavidW says, "who knows"

Jacqueline says, "A moka pot is a type of hob-top espresso maker."

DavidW says, "ah. I’ve never made espresso, so this may be entertaining as I burn the linoleum."

Jacqueline says, "I only know of them because of Sam, though they’ve become more common in North America lately."

Behind the counter is the espresso machine shelving, on one side the capsules shelving and on the opposite side the roasted coffee shelving.
Next to the shop window is a small open shelf with moka pots on display.

On the espresso machines shelving is a big old moka.

On the counter are a cash register and a POS terminal.

Marco is managing the shop.

"Good evening Monica and Francesco!" — Marco welcomes you.
"Hi Marco!" — Monica answers him.

DavidW asks, "POS means something new, I assume. Point of Sale, maybe?"

DavidW >> x marco

Marco takes a white box from the shelf and puts it on the counter.

DavidW >> no

NO

"No!" — you answer annoyed — "It ends up the same as always: you use it once and then it becomes one of your ciaffi!"

While Monica tries to soften you up with cuddles and eye candy, I try to explain what ciaffi are.
The ciaffi are obviously useless objects, perhaps sometimes humorous, but currently taking up space and gathering dust.

Jacqueline says, "We’ll cave."

In the coffee shop

"All right," — you say at last, with a disconsolate air — "so you won’t sulk for a week."
"You might think I say this just to make a sale," — Marco explains — "but trust me, for breakfast I prefer moka coffee to machine coffee. You’ve got to try it: I bet you’ll change your mind!"

"Well miss Monica," — Marco asks — "which color do you prefer?"
"I let Fancesco choose," — Monica replies looking at you — "after all he is the art director."

You smile.

>

Jacqueline says, "I mean, I do prefer moka over any capsules."

"Ah, the conquering moustache!" — Marco exclaims — "It’s a product of cult, a mono-origin of Brazilian Arabica."

Jacqueline says, "I mean, sort of ? I use mine to make Americano - just espresso cut with hot water."

In the kitchen

When using the coffee maker for the first time, wash thoroughly with water.
Hand wash only without using detergents and abrasive sponges to preserve its features over the time.
Never use the coffee maker without water in the heater.
Never use other liquids in the heater, the coffee maker is intended to be used with water only.
The coffee maker is designed to be used only with water and ground coffee for moka for household use.
Never press coffee into the funnel.
Make at least 3 cups of coffee, discarding them; do not drink the first 3 dispensing operations of coffee as they are necessary for enhancing the aroma of coffee at best.

"Oh my, just as this lovely coffee is ready." — Monica says to you in a whisper — "What do you say we just pretend nothing happened and enjoy it together?"

Jacqueline >> yes

On the stage

YES

"Oh, come on, we’ve put so much effort in, it would be such a shame to waste it now!" — you reply. Marco comes from behind the scenes, carrying a large moka that’s clearly been used. "Don’t drink that coffee!" — he exclaims then adds — "Do you still remember what it said in the instructions for the moka?"

Jacqueline says, "Oh."

Jacqueline asks, "That stupidness?"

Jacqueline says, "I would never do that for real at home."

DavidW says, "hee"

"Then you can throw away that coffee, because it’s not very good." — he suggests — "Make a few more coffees and throw them away, so that tomorrow morning you will have a good cup of coffee to wake you up."

Then Marco turns to the director and asks — "I think we can both agree that these guys were pretty good, right?"
"Absolutely!" — he replies — "And I absolutely love the idea of what you’re planning to do with that old moka."
"Francesco, would you like to help me make some coffee for everyone?" — Marco asks you.

"It’s great that we all share the same coffee." — Monica exclaims then asks Marco — "Can I also help?"
"Oh, yes, we need some cups." — Marco replies — "There should be some in the shop scene."
While you and Marco manage for the coffee Monica goes to the shop scene and comes back a few minutes later with some coffecups which she puts on the table.

An inviting aroma of coffee begins to invade the kitchen scene; Marco starts pouring coffee for everyone.
"The first one is obviously for Monica." — he states, then pointing you — "And then our talented Francesco."

DavidW claps

Jacqueline says, "I am literally drinking a latte made from a moka pot as we speak."

DavidW says, "I didn’t expect it to end so soon."

DavidW says (to Jacqueline), "oo, nice"

Jacqueline says, "Me either. I thought it was going to make me do that two more times."

Jacqueline says, "FWIW, I always press the coffee in kinda tight. Guess I didn’t read the instructions."

DavidW asks, "I suppose the water needs the coffee to be loose enough to go through?"

Jacqueline says, "Well, I always thought that, by packing it, you were forcing water into the cofee more and thus getting a stronger cup."

DavidW says, "I dunno. Maybe so."
