Hi, I am really impressed with your page. I love all the information that I found here, and especially the fairy poetry, because it is hard to find. But I do have one comment on how you aranged the poets by good, fair, and poor.. I almost find this kind of cruel. I don't think anyone, even poets who are dead, should be rated in this sort of way... but just a suggestion. Keep on up the good work on a wonderful page!

I love your page. I was also wondering if you could help me. I am trying to find the origins of a poem I guess it is called now, but was originally a song from what I'm being told. It's called Fiddlers Green. I understand it was an old Irish song but the time period I dont know. I'm a Cavalry Scout in the US Army and Fiddlers Green is a part of tradition with the Cav. Can you help me find the origins? Dave SABRE on PowWow

Wow! Lots of great info here. I was wondering if you're familiar with any of Brian Froud's work (ex: "Good Fairies/Bad Fairies", "Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book", "Fairies", "The Complete Goblin Companion"). If not you should check it out. The "Good/Bad..." book is amazing! Mostly Foud does artwork (which in my opinion is better than his writing, but the stories are good too). If you need some really nice art for your page I highly recomend using Froud. It's nice to know that there are other people out there who are into fairies as much as I am!! Thanks!

This site surpasses all other folktale/mythology sites. The story Phantastes was absolutley surreal. Sometimes when I visit mythology sites like this I sometimes get the childish notion that maybe they aren't myths after all.

Hi, I'm trying to find a map or alternatively a list of all the fairy folklore and myths in the British isles and Ireland without having to go throough a million stories and jot down the locations. I'm not interested in the whole tale just a quick summary of the myth or tale and the location it occured i.e. town, area , region. I'm trying to work on a map which includes folklore and I need locations of fairy myths right down to the name of the town or it occured if possible. Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I tried your e-mail address but it wouldn't work! Thanks G.hELLWIG

I love your web site. I don't have acomputer of my own so I won't get to come back. But I wanted to let you know that many people who know me believe that I'm an Elf. I know that's not the same as a faerie but elves are said to be magical also. I would prefer to be a faerie than an elf. I definately believe in faeries.

This is exactly what I have been looking for!!!! If you decide to write a book, I will definitely buy it!!!! I have been looking and surfing for a site in which I could find a "dictionary" of fairy lore, and here it is!! One site had a link to a page supposedly with a dictionary of lore but the link was old or it no longer existed. I hear of fairies mostly from European countries, are there any in the Americas at all? And what about the East? If anyone has any info, please feel free to email me. Thank YOU so much. I know that a lot of your own personal time and effort has gone into this, please know this is greatly appreciated.

I haven't had a chance to look at your entire website, but what little I have seen, I like. I have one comment: Under Stories, Fairy Origins - I read the first two stories. These stories only tell of the origin of fairies after Christianity came into existence. What about before Christianity? The Celts believed in fairies before Christianity came around - I would love to know the stories of origin before Christianity.

Wonderful Resources, we'd love to list you and be listed!) Cinemarquee http://www.cinemarquee.com John Edgerton jedgerton@rmci.net Greetings and Happy Holidays , We of the Cinemarquee (filmmakers) have created a cinema and literary resource for professionals (covering cinema, theater, playwrighting, screenwriting , novel writing, science fiction, fantasy, horror, pulp, comic book writing and literature) having gathered the finest resources on the net. We're doing a ton of remodling on our site to the writing, science fiction, horror and literature section. Internet hammers are flying! The old Attic Asylum's Internet loft is shaking and the dust of old playwrights is circling around us in amusement. We're redesigning our sites to include resources for writers: research, creative writing web resources etc. which will be then connected to our Actic Asylum's Writer's Resource Ensemble Site, Screenwriting Lounge, Cosmo's Science Fiction Cafe, Cosmo's Gothic Cafe, Cosmo's Hero Pulp Cafe, Mystery Lounge, The Attic Asylum's Theater and Playwrighting Ensemble .... etc. We love your site and would love to please the Spirits of the Old Famous Screenwriters and add your plaque and marvelous writer's advice onto our internet wall as a resource of Cinemarquee's Screenwriter's Lounge! We'd love an opportunity to link you! I was interested to see K.M. Briggs-- a great scholar and leading figure in the field, now deceased-- credited as the author of "Kate Crackernuts", which is a folk tale a translation of which was first published in the journal Folk-Lore in 1890. Briggs re-publishes the excellent orginal in her Encyclopedia. The original is hard to find, and even the New York Public Library's copy was somewhat unreadable due to deterioration. The version on the site attributed to Katherine Briggs is not as good as the original, and almost certainly begins in the middle, since it doesn't make a lot of sense as it stands. A really horrible, mutilated version of this wonderful story was published by a Cornell professor as an illustrated children's book; may that Auld Breed seek her out and pursue her through a lonely land until she is seven times terrified. This is an excellent site, the only one which comes close to my personal library in completeness. Let's see the original Kate Crackernuts! It's an unusual story recorded in the Orkneys, and has many interesting features.

I am truly a elf and my friend, Strawberry, is a fairy. You have some mistakes. First of all, a fairy can live on earth. I do. Also, a fairy lives forever. When they die they just go back to fairy land. that's all your mistakes ,but I have a bit of information that might intrest you. There can be half fairie or elf. My friend, Champ, is. She actually is a Waterlily. That is just another magical creature. Another creature is a Swanette or Swallette. A swanette is like fairy except it has swan wings. A swallette is like a fairy except it has swallow wings.

It would be much appreciated if you would help me find out where I can go on the internet to find these pictures. You can e-mail me...whatever. It's okay. And, if there is a biography on them, I would really like to know about it too. Thanks heaps, mate.

I am of Scotch-Irish-Welsh decent going back to 1620 England on one side. I love your lore page. Being a researcher and writer most of my life, I enjoy the lore of other countries. I shall return here often to share with my grown grandchildren. I think sometimes we Americans have lost some of our story telling ability. Thank you for the pleasant experience.

Hey there! I am completely entertained and amazed by your site, as is just about every other person I have introduced your site to. Feel free to e-mail me with any other Faerie information you may have. THANKS!!! Oh- Just one question. My interest in faeries is generally pretty new so I am quite clueless as of yet. But, I read some of the comments given on your pages that made mention to everyone having a faerie name. Could you please give me insight into this subject? I think it would be interesting to find out what my faery name may be. Thanks.

I really enoyed your page ( comming from one who has been to many without even having the internet at their house ) and found it to be the best I've seen as it just didn't have pictures and art, but poetry and tales. I'll be back soon, One of the fae.

Very interesting page! I wonder if it would be possible for me to ask you to add a link for my author Carole Silver's book, when it comes out? It's on Victorians and the fairies (forthcoming OUP). Many thanks T. Susan Chang, Editor. Oxford University Press 198 Madison Ave New York, NY 10016
