Stairs is a TADS 2 interactive fiction game and is © 2000 by Anonymous. It was an entry in the Speed-IF 11 event and the third part of its six-part story.
You play as someone who needs to move a dead body down this spacious and majestic staircase. Unfortunately, your sister, Katelyn, is playing "Stairway Hopscotch". How are you going to get the body past her without her seeing it? (Part 3 of a 6-part series.)
This solution is by David Welbourn.
Top of grand staircase
This is part three of a six-part series; start with Fun and Games.
Don't just pick up the body and head down the stairs. Your sister, Katelyn, is hopping about randomly on the stairs. You should meet her somewhere on the trip down, and she should propose a game where you try to avoid hopping to a piece of stairway that has the steak or the coat.
> x chandelier. x body. d. e. d. w.
bottom of stairway
> x steak. take it. (+1) x coat. take it. (+1) e.
lower east stairway
> drop steak. u. w.
With the steak on the lower east stairs, wait on the Landing for Katelyn to appear and hop away. Hope that she's hopped to the East stairs.
> drop coat. e.
East stairway
If Katelyn isn't here, that is, trapped between steak and coat, go back to the Landing, pick up the coat, and wait for her again. You'll probably have to try a few times before she's trapped where you want her. Assuming she is here, trapped on the east stairs:
> w. u.
Top of grand staircase
> take body. (+1) d. w. d. e. s. (+1)
*** You have completed this stage ***
This series continues with Living Room.

This walkthrough is provided free of charge since I wrote this walkthrough prior to January 2015 when I began my Patreon account, and also because the work it's based on has less than fifteen locations (so I wouldn't have charged for it anyway). I've since reformatted this walkthrough to use my currently preferred style. I hope you enjoy it!
I'm still creating new walkthroughs! Larger ones too! Please visit my Patreon account if you're interested in helping me create more interactive fiction walkthroughs. I appreciate all the help I can get! Thanks again.
