Let's examine some fountains! Pretty much anything that's called a "fountain" can be in this list except for fountain pens.

Beat the Devil (1999)

It's actually a really nice looking fountain. But as you move closer, you sense an incredible amount of heat radiating off it and realize what you took to be colored water is, in fact, molten lava. How lovely.
A Beauty Cold and Austere (2017)

This ornate stone fountain in the center of the court is its most prominent feature. The fountain is currently dry.
Berrost's Challenge (2008)

The fountain is circular, with a large, low basin surrounding a pedestal. On the pedestal stands a statue of Hhushta the Hero, founder of Thresher's Field and priest of Elidoria. Streams of water flow from several holes towards the top of the pedestal. The water is recycled magically. Another spell the old man never taught you.

Biscuit (2001)

A small pump works the fountain and the filtration unit, buried under the plant life which lines the sides of the pond. The fountain bubbles rather than leaps into the air, probably all of 3 inches. It probably requires its filter cleaning again, but it can wait for now.
The Bony King of Nowhere (2017)

The tall fountain consists of a tower of stacked marble skulls, decending in size to the top. Water pours from the eye sockets of one skull into a hole in the cranium of the one below.
The city planners really took the King's nickname to heart, although a sense of the morbid has always characterised this country well before his reign.

The liquid is sludge-black where it pours in quantity, but where it runs thin, it appears red.
Cacophony (2009)

The ornamentation depicts a pantheon of gods and goddesses, peering outwards. You can see the gleam of coins beneath the water.

The fountain seems to run all across the area, with a reasonable strong current of water in it. It looks like it even flows out of the area.

It is a tall, slender young woman, with eternal joy on its face. It stands with a light gown on its body, her eyes closed, arms hanging. Snakes are wriggling on the top of its head, like strange hair, with their mouth open, showing their long, sharp fangs.

Cragne Manor (2018)

An ornate brick drinking fountain, with a spout above a silver bowl, a button underneath, and surrounded by ivy.

The smaller fountain is nearly obscured by the disturbed ivy. Its bowl is filled with decaying leaves and crawling insects, and rust covers all its exposed metal. A crumbling sign is mounted in the brick above the spout.

Trumpet Vine with its bright orange, conical flowers strangles what seems to be a marble fountain. Looking closer you see that the top of the fountain features a cherub giving a peace sign with one of its hands and is pointing at its feet with the other. You determine that when the water is actually flowing, the naked churub pees into the main basin. Disconcertingly, a vine has erupted from the cherub's ...ahem... and it dangles freely. You involuntarily wince.
Day of the Djinn (2017)

The fountain consists of a pillar in the middle of a circular basin, spouting water from its top. It is, as a brief description, elegant. The carvings on its side portray a pretty, long-haired cat girl throwing grain while birds flock around her. It's supposed to be a symbol of peace, you think, something about an old feud settled by sharing food. Actually, it might just be modern art. You didn't pay much attention in history class.
There are coins shimmering just beneath the water's surface. Their value varies, from pennies to gold shimmering doubloons. People throw them in for good luck. Only someone with dubious morals would try and steal these coins.

The fountain stands in the center of a pool of water. The water which comes from a natural spring beneath the plaza, trickles from the many openings in the sculptured fountain and falls noisily into the waist-deep pool that surrounds it. In hot weather children enjoy splashing around in the pond and collecting the coins that people occasionally drop into the water for good luck. The overflow water from the pool is channeled to a narrow iron grate to the west of the fountain.

At the fountain's center stands the sort of highbrow abstract sculpture you've never found particularly appealing. There is no water in the fountain, but the edge of the stone basin at least serves as a bench for the citizenry. At the moment, this only amounts to a single middle-aged shopper resting beside her basket of books.

Geist (2014)

A marble figure of a Wizard, with polyhedral dice somehow giving the impression that they're whizzing around his forward-thrusting hand despite being solid stone. The sculptor, you hear, tried to make him look wise and all knowing, yet mischievous - with the end result of looking somewhat bored and gassy. Water jets out of the tip of his wand, held straight up overhead in his other hand. Various goblin-like creatures surround him, their gleeful cavorting frozen in stone, and more streams of water fountain from their mouths ...and other, less usual, orifices.
The pool surrounding the statuary looks to be about knee-deep, and filled with clean water. Well, clean-ish.

The fountain, as has been mentioned, is made of stone, and shaped like the head of a dragon. The dragon's mouth is open, and water pours from it into the stream.
Limelight (2008)

A bubbly fountain with a small sign "Do not toss coins in the fountain." Scattered over the bottom of the fountain are many coins.

This fountain has obviously been frequented by many travellers passing through the region as can be seen by the worn stone sides. It is very decorative. It must have taken a long time to carve all of these designs into the bare stone.

Cracked and bone-dry, the stone in the center of the plaza might not be recognizable as a fountain if its placement didn't strongly suggest that to be the case.
Taunting Donut (2008)

"They" must have read somewhere that humans needed some natural sounds in order to stay sane. So "they" installed a fountain in your room. Of course, like everything else "they" do, it really isn't quite human. Water falling in a continuous stream from a small hole in the ceiling onto a fist sized stone on the floor. That's it! Just a stream of water! and a single round rock. It's unclear what happens to the water once it reaches the floor. You'd think there would be a puddle but there isn't.

The Wizard Sniffer (2017)

The fountain is a large pool of water encased by stone. The statue in its centre depicts a cockatrice hen feeding her chicks in the manner of most birds, the act represented by the water pouring out of her mouth. At the hen's feet are the remains of a human, ravaged, with their ribs exposed through torn meat.
