The computer governs all the observatory's systems, from life support to data collection to attitude control. The professor set up all the interfaces to meet Sadalbari standards of usability, so getting anything done with human limbs is usually inconvenient and sometimes impossible.

Bullhockey 2: The Return of The Leather Whip (2019)
> x computer (@ Living Room)
It is so complicated as to be beyond your comprehension. Which is why you always only let Natalie handle it.
> x computer (@ Room 215)
Well, it looks like a computer, but the processing unit looks like nothing you've seen before, not on your average computer. It seems to have an extra "drive" built into it, a unit sitting beside it and wired to it. Of course, there is a monitor and a keyboard on the desk.
Strangely, the whole assembly seems to emanate an eerie violet glow....oddly for a moment you wish you were sitting in the little man's place....
Bullhockey! (2018)
> x computer (@ Living Room)
This contraption is far too complicated for you to figure out--best to leave it alone. All you understand about it is that you and Natalie watch television from the monitor, and she prints stuff out for you with the printer.
Calliope (1999)
> x mutated Macintosh (@ Living Room)
You have rewarded this mostly-beige (for, some months ago, you intentionally spattered a parti-color pattern of India ink across its case while in an artsy mood) little pizza box's years of service with a number of upgrades its manufacturer did not intend. Of course, none of this helps you out any now, as it doesn't take much processing power to generate the half-baked 'game' facing you presently. At least you can compile quickly.
The mutated Macintosh is currently switched [on or off].

The Computer Lady (2019)
> x Apple (@ Church Approach)
Your computer with a floppy disk drive and some other bells and whistles, is looking as though it saw better days years ago. The screen has a zigzag-shaped crack at the top from the time your favorite game crashed. So far, it's suffered liquid damage at the hands of an innocent cup of tea, modem failure and the enter key has fallen off. Luckily, most people use the touchscreen division of Apple products, so you've got your fingers crossed just in case it cannot be repaired.
Cragne Manor (2018)
> x computer (@ Backwater Jail)
It looks bulky, even by today's standards, and on it is a faded decal stating, "...ateway". The nicotine-stained monitor sitting before it might bear a closer look.
> x computer (@ Carol's Room)
A bulky affair, larger and deeper than your Viewsonic monitor back in the office. Most of the terminal is a white plastic case, except the front, which is a dark green and mostly occupied by a glass screen, upon which white text glows on a black background. The lower portion of the front panel features an integrated keyboard. Above the keyboard and to the right of the screen, the case is marked in white lettering: "Computer Terminal Corporation" and "DATAPOINT 3300". Between those words, the case is stamped with an arrow in circle logo. You notice a sticker applied to the side of the case, near the bottom. It reads, "Property of General Dynamics". A large red rocker switch on the bottom right side of the keyboard emits a red neon glow.

Escape from Ice Station Hippo (2012)
> x weather computers (@ Main Dome)
These are some obsolete government cast-off weather computers. They were designed to collect and analyze weather data. The user interface is beastly. It requires the user to fill in numerous fields to perform the simplest task or look up anything. The answer fields required are often totally unrelated to anything you're trying to do and it will not accept a blank answer field.

Pasta used to be the deity of textiles and weaving, but then he died of old age. They hooked him up to the computer system, which used to consist of an old desktop running Windows XP. The old system was pretty slow from a deity's perspective, but when they installed Pasta, it really perked up. Now the whole pantheon has blazing fast access to the interent and free e-mail through deity.net. A bank of lights on Pasta's chest indicates which deities are logged onto deity.net. A cord runs from Pasta's right foot into an outlet in the floor.

It would be like Michelangelo trying to carve the statue of David with his fingernail. It fucking sucks!
And yet, the masterpiece was almost done!
You start to cry in your hands. As you glance downward, you see your fat belly. You've probably gained 40 pounds in the past few months.

Subject: My history with legal and illegal drugs
Newsgroups: alt.society.neutopia,alt.cyberspace,alt.drugs
I want to say more about my history with legal and illegal drugs. I found that with marijuana smokers some of them were more intelligent than the normal beer drinking crowd of North Carolinians. So I liked being around pot smokers, not all of them, but the ones who would smoke and get into philosophic discussions. There were other Mary Jane smokers who would just talk drug talk about the quality of this pot or that pot. I didn't enjoy that talk at all.
At one time in college, I was a pot head. There are times when I think that I should stop smoking pot all together. But a little now and then helps me to cope with the stark reality of capitalism. The euphoria of pot some times helps me see ways out of the cruel reality.

Perdition's Flames (1993)
> x computer (@ Master Bedroom)
It's a personal computer with the traditional accoutrements: mouse, keyboard, monitor, and system CPU unit. The screen is displaying a bunch of C code.
Porter Cave Adventure (2019)
> x computer (@ Hill)
The screen looks very old. It's circular, and in the center of the screen, a rectangular tic-tac-toe board is displayed.

A telephone is connected to the monitor. It appears to be a way to give input to the game.

A Quiet Evening at Home (2010)

A two-year-old white Macintosh laptop.
Safehouse (2010)
> x computer (@ Safehouse)
You call it "your precious". It is currently off. [if smashed]Also, it is completely smashed to bits.[end if]
Squeaky on the Moon (2001)
> x computer (@ June's Apartment)
June's stinky giant computer is made by the giant evil German corporation Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. (Okay, so maybe it's not so surprising that stinky June has a computer, then.) The computer has an open panel on one side, large enough for a stinky cat or a has-been chipmunk cartoon character on the Moon to crawl into.
A Stroll on the Roof (2001)
> x laptop computer (@ Roof of building)
Yes, it's well and truly forked.
Stupid Kittens (2000)
> x computer (@ In Karen's Room)
Why would anyone want to visit--much create--a live-cam website devoted to your pointless and stinky and miserable existence? Ask Karen, only she would know.
The computer is currently switched on.
The Tiny House (2010)
> x computer (@ Master Bedroom)
This is Dan's laptop. He doesn't like it when you use it, but he's not here, so it shouldn't be a big deal.
The computer looks like it's permanently set to Wikipedia. You can look up articles about things by saying "Consult wikipedia about ..."
Tookie's Song (2002)
> x computer (@ Home Office)
The desktop is dark and silent. It looks like a bad copy of an older model, from back in the day when your own 200 MHz processor was considered top-of-the-line (yes, that's a joke).
Turning Point (2004)
> x computer (@ Cabin 6)
If you want to know something just ask your computer about it.
Unscientific Fiction (2008)
> x Lucy (@ Computer Room)
You don't exactly know where to look at, since Lucy is everywhere.
> x machines (@ Computer Room)
This is far too complicated for you.
> x console (@ Computer Room)
There is nothing but a big red button on it. Above it is a label saying UNIVERSE DESTROYER GUN 3000(TM) ACTIVATION BUTTON.
The Valley House (2011)
> x desktop computer (@ Study)
It isn't even connected to the Internet. You hardly use it, or its printer, anymore unless you need to type an official letter of some kind, and how often does that happen? You bought it for games, but games have been beyond you this year.
Waystation (1995)
> x computer (@ Computer Room)
The computer is housed in one of those anti-theft cases. Visible through the steel case is a monitor, a keyboard, and a powerstrip on/off switch.
> x computer (@ Waystation Control)
Presumably, the workstation is here so that human operators can direct the flow of waystation traffic, much like an air-traffic controller directs airplanes. In reality, the computers in this room handle that job. The workstation is a left-over relic from days gone by.
The Wayward Story (2020)
> x laptop (@ Bedroom)
It's been a good 5 or 8 years since you bought it. You are satisfied. Your favorite show is currently on, enticing you with that last episode.
