  She looks as if she doesn't want to be here. She is wearing a skull cap with a green afro on top, face covered in white makeup, with a red cherry nose, as befits the clown stereotype. Colorful clown fatigues cover her body, with the name "MARKY" stitched, in rainbow colored letters, around the collar.

  The clown seems to have been painted on the wallboard many years ago, in a style that was probably cloyingly cutesy even then. By now the image is patchy and faded. A crack in the plaster runs diagonally down through the clown’s face and across the corner of his mouth, making his expression look less festive or playful than ironic or mocking.

  The clown is six feet tall, and has loose, gangly arms and legs. His shocking red hair stands straight up, and his face is covered with thick white greasepaint, on which a bright red mouth, nose, and cheeks have been painted. He’s wearing baggy trousers, which are held up by alarmingly green suspenders with tiny yellow ducks printed on them, and floppy shoes that are several sizes too large.
