Key & Compass presents:
The Electric Puppet
by Christophe Géradon

The Electric Puppet is a Z-machine interactive fiction game written with Inform 7 and is © 2008 by Christophe Géradon. This is an English translation of Le Pantin Electrique by Christophe Géradon.

In this adult horror game, you play as a young man named Bernard having convulsions and looking at the inside of your head. Take your medicine and follow your mother's instructions to unhang a hanged individual on Mortadelle Street.

This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.

SPOILERS AHEAD. Reading a walkthrough prematurely can sometimes diminish one's enjoyment of an interactive fiction game. Please make an honest effort to play the game before reading this walkthrough.

Walkthrough

At the outset, I should say that I have no idea why both ifwizz and IFDB describe this game as humourous. I saw nothing comedic about this game.

Inside your head

The "spheres" are your eyes.

> x me. x eyes. listen. x voice.

> i. x bag. open bag.

> x box. x voucher. x paper.

> open box. x pill. eat pill.

A cab

The driver wants to know where to drive to.

> say Mortadelle Street.

The cab stops. The driver wants 15 Euros in advance.

> x driver. give voucher to her.

At the south end of Mortadelle Street

> n.

In the middle of Mortadelle Street

> x door. open door. (locked)

> e.

The Tatoo & Piecing Shop

> x man. (Steve needs inspiration.)

> ask man about Darcie. (She wants a tough guy who uses force.)

> ask man about hanged man. (In the house with the brown door.)

> x unsold goods box. open it.

> take all from unsold goods box. (Steve says each is not for sale.)

> w. n. w.

The Rhum Pub

> x barman. x pints. x men.

> ask barman for beverage.

> n.

Men's toilets

> x bowls. x wall.

> read graffiti. ("iron this shirt bitch")

> w. (forbidden for men who don't own the key)

> s. e. e.

The home of Feminist Fight

> x Darcie. x iPod.

> ask Darcie about key. (She doesn't hear you because of the iPod.)

> x waffles. x cups. x towels.

> e.

The small room

> x broom. take it.

> x tape. take it.

> w. w. s. e.

The Tatoo & Piecing Shop

> ask Steve about key. (fuck Darcie; she likes Tupperware)

> ask Steve about shirt. (He needs a new catchphrase.)

> say iron this shirt bitch. (He prints a night-colored shirt with that phrase.)

> take night shirt. x it. wear it.

> w. n. e.

The home of Feminist Fight

You may find this sequence unpleasant, but note that this is consensual and between adults.

> ask Darcie about key. (Your shirt has all but hypnotized her.)

> fuck Darcie with broom. (She drops a key, you discard the broom, and she crawls away.)

> take key.

> w. s.

In the middle of Mortadelle Street

> unlock door with key. open door. w.

11, Mortadelle Street

> x hanged. (It's your mother.)

> d.

The basement

> x TV. u.

11, Mortadelle Street

> unhang mother.

There's an odd inversion. Now you're your mother, and your son Bernard is hanging.

> x me. (She died in Australia in 1974.)

> i. x sheet. ("Togheter is Psycho", from Bernard)

> x son.

> e. n. w. n. w.

Ladies' room

> x VCR. take it.

> e. s. e. s. w.

11, Mortadelle Street

> drop VCR.

> take son. (You're now Bernard.)

> take VCR.

> d.

The basement

Some guess-the-verb here. You can't connect, attach, or join the VCR to the TV.

> drop VCR.

> plug VCR to TV.

> put tape in VCR.

> turn on TV.

> turn on VCR. (You're now...)

Inside the TV set

> x card.

*** You have won ***

So what happened, really? I'm inclined to believe that Bernard's mother died years ago, and unknowingly, he's developed a multiple-personality disorder where he sometimes thinks he's her. The hanged individual could just be a mannequin with a wig, and he's just taking the wig and wearing it when he becomes her.

And I don't think you really went into the TV either. You're just misinterpreting the images on the screen as your current reality. I think it's entirely mental illness, and no magic is involved.

Disclaimer: AIF walkthroughs are not part of my Patreon or Ko-Fi

As you may know from looking at other walkthroughs on this site, I have Patreon and Ko-Fi accounts where I ask my patrons to help support me financially in my efforts in crafting verbose walkthroughs for works of interactive fiction. However, this walkthrough is free because I will not charge for walkthroughs based on adult IF. I suspect most of my patrons do not want their names associated with adult IF in any way, so AIF walkthroughs just won't ever be part of my Patreon or Ko-Fi. I still want to write the occasional AIF walkthrough, like this one, though, so I'm adding a disclaimer here.
