Pod Form Factors

Top-down neighborhood layouts by ring

Each pod houses ~1,600 people in ~750 units with a K-8 school, commercial, medical, dining, and other daily-life amenities. The same program is expressed differently at each ring height. No streets — all ground space is pedestrian paths, gardens, and plazas. Elevated bike paths (~5m) bridge over pods and are not shown in these ground-level plans.

Ring 1 — 2-Story Campus

~360m diameter · 14 pods in ring · Townhouses & courtyards
K-8 Med CC Library Fit 100m
Townhouse rows in organic clusters of 3-5 buildings. Large courtyards and gardens between clusters. School near center. Commercial grouped but not dominant. Generous green space throughout. Feels like a college campus or garden village.

Ring 2 — 4-Story Garden Blocks

~255m diameter · 10 pods in ring · Mid-rise blocks with gardens
K-8 Med Library Fit CC 50m
L-shaped and U-shaped blocks create sheltered courtyards. Denser than Ring 1 but still generous gardens. Commercial forms a walkable strip through the center. Buildings frame outdoor rooms. Feels like a European perimeter-block neighborhood.

Ring 3 — 8-Story Urban Village

~180m diameter · 8 pods in ring · Mixed-use mid-rise
K-8 yard Medical Library 35m
Courtyard buildings with commercial ground floors facing the central plaza. School has its own protected yard. Medical and community facilities anchor the south. Feels like a dense European village square — everything within a 90-second walk.

Ring 4 — 16-Story Tower Podiums

~130m diameter · 5 pods in ring · Towers on shared base
K-8 + Community Med + CC Fitness 20m
Four residential towers on a shared 2-3 story podium. School and community in the central tower. Commercial wraps the podium edges. Plazas between towers catch light. Podium roof is a shared garden/terrace. Feels like a modern Asian mixed-use development.

Center — 32-Story Vertical Village

~90m diameter · 3 pods in ring · Compact towers, dense plazas
Tower A Tower B Tower C K-8 Med Community 10m
Two or three tall towers connected by a shared podium base containing school, commercial, and community. Everything is vertical — school occupies dedicated floors, not a standalone building. Medical, fitness, library are all tower floors. Rooftop gardens on each tower. Feels like a single interconnected vertical campus. The pod IS the building.
