This page ROCKS! I really appreciate the fact that there is someone out there who follows the same kind of Fantasy that I do:) I am directing the Science Fiction and Fantasy in Literature program in the Living and Learning Center at the University of Vermont next year, and I am trying to get people more interested in this kind of work. I am really not impressed by people who think Stephen King or Piers Anthony write quality Fantasy, and that seems to be who I am dealing with for the most part. While I am here, allow me to reccomend a conference. It's called "ReaderCON" In the past it has been located in Worchester, MA. I have no idea where you are located, but this is a really cool convention and definitley worth checking out.

Thanks again for aGREAT PAGE:)

This is one of the best and most complete web pages I have seen on any subject! I am running a game of Changeling: The Dreaming soon and thought I'd have a look at some faerie pages for a bit of inspiration and to nick a few .gifs. I've just sat here for hours copying poems and stories to the notepad and reading about all the kiths in the game that I didn't know the origins of and finding the original ballads of Steeleye Span songs which I've loved and not heard for far too long. I shall visit often until I've read everything here, and then I'll come back and read it all again! Thank you for this site, it's fantastic.

The famous Dr Jacques Vallee believes that fairys et al are the same entities responsible for the ufo phenomena. He makes a compelling case for this in several of his books especially in his book Dimensions. Thought you should check it out. I have a good friend from Kilkenny who claims he heard a banshee scream once when he still lived in Ireland.

I thought this passage from George MacDonald's fairy story "The Carasoyn" would make a wonderful addition.

"Now that which happens to the aspect of a country when the fairies leave it, is that a kind of deadness falls over the landscape. The traveller feels the wind as before, but it does not seem to refresh him. The child sighs over his daisy chain, and cannot find a red-tipped one amongst all that he has gathered. The cowslips have not half the honey in them. The wasps outnumber the bees. The horses come from the plough more tired at night, hanging their heads to their very hooves as they plod homewards. The youth and the maiden, though perfectly happy when they meet, find the road to and from the trysting-place unaccountably long and dreary. The hawthorn- blossom is neither so white nor so red as it used to be, and the dark rough bark looks through and makes it ragged. The day is neither so warm nor the night so friendly as before. In a word, that something which no one can describe or be content to go without is missing. Everything is common-place. Everything falls short of one's expectations."

your web page is awesome!! Ages ago I read a story, I think from cornwall, where a woman was abducted to attend a fairy birth under a river. She was kept there for a while and got grease from a pie on her finger and then touched it to her eye. Upon return to the upper world she could see through fairy vanity and upon identifying her abductor in the market, he poked out her eye. Nothing totally unique there, I know, but you wouldn't know where I could look it up again, would you? anyway, I'm dead impressed!

Most impressed by the effort involved. As something of a student of faerie myself, I would be very insterested to hear your view of the so-called "Devil's Footprints", an incident in Devonshire, UK in 1857 where the cloven hooved prints of a child-sized biped appeared in the snow, travelling over sixty miles in a couple of hours. I have a theory, but I'd love to hear yours, if you have one. :-))

Local composer/director Daniel Dutton has written a four part opera entitled "The Secret Commonwealth", a contemporary dance/drama. Part One, entitled "The Changeling and the Bear" was performed May 24, 1996 at The Center Theatre in Somerset, Kentucky. This production was filmed by KET (Kentucky Educational Television) for broadcast to schools and adult audiences. In 1997, this production will reach about 500,000 school children within Kentucky. A teacher guide was also developed in conjunction with this project. Performance of Part Two of "The Secret Commonwealth" will take place on October 4, 1997 at The Center Theatre in Somerset, KY. Part Two is entitled "The Road" and deals with the imagination of journeys. Information regarding this production is available through myself (company manager) at the above email address. CD's are available for both "The Changeling and the Bear" and "The Road". Part Three, "Love and Time" is in a developmental phase at this time... see stories of Thomas the Rhymer as a glimpse of what's coming. This all does seem to relate. Well, pretty extensive dictionary, but I must say that I am confused about some things, first of all, Tori Amos says that she is Fae and a rencarnate of Queen Mab, but I have other sources that say that sidhe don't come back, only the other kiths do. I am one very confused pixie, let me tell you that. The other kiths would be, of corse, knockers, trolls, redcaps, boggons, saytrs, slough, and then the pooka. Nymphs, pixies, werewolves, and vampyres are thought to be long lost Fae, and then I heard that Pixies were just simply chimera. I am a pixie, and as far as I can tell, I am Faerie. Well, good day to you all, and if you happen to have any questions or comments or answers, just e-mail me. Thanx,

Looks like a good place if you are interested in faeries. I just got this address from your character in NannyMud and thought I should check it out and leave a small note that I was here.

I absolutely am amazed at all of the fairy information I found. I love fairies and decided one evening to check the web. It is truly amazing. Thank you, Thank you for all of the great information. However, there is just one problem. I was visiting the Phantastes 1958 site and several of the chapters such as 14 - the very end are missing and I cannot finish it! Are they gone forever, or was it some sort of fluke? I'd dearly love the see the remaining chapters! It is like torture! Keep up the great work! I am hooked!
