Initially Textfire was a domain Ivan Cockrum set up in response to the Textfire hoax of April 1, 1998. Then Ivan agreed to host the annual IF competition's pages here. Then he added the beta-testing site. Eventually, several sites ended up being hosted by Ivan. Later, Ivan became unable to host the site any move, and it moved to plover.net. Sadly, the original URL was swiped by some casino search company. At least it's not porn.

• Annual Interactive Fiction Competition: Every year the interactive fiction community holds a contest for short games.
• The Interactive Fiction Book Club: Lucian Smith runs a "book club" for older works of IF which newer fans may not have played.
• The Interactive Fiction Review Conspiracy: The conspiracy exists to further more reviews of interactive fiction. Authors can register their games for review; others can volunteer to review submitted games.
• The IF Beta Site: Lucian Smith also runs a site for authors who need their games beta-tested and for players who are willing to volunteer to be beta-testers.
• FAQs: IFaq is a brief summary of rec.arts.int-fiction and rec.games.int-fiction frequently asked questions. The complete rec.arts.int-fiction FAQ is also hosted here.
