Trial of the Inuop is a Glulx interactive fiction game written with Inform 7 and is © 2017 by Jordan Jones.

In this short one-room game, you are a homeowner abducted by aliens called the Inuop. They invite you to escape their space vessel before a timer runs out or they'll invade Earth. Examining and taking inventory do not use up turns. The timer shows 11 turns left. Good luck!

This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.

Walkthrough

Mysterious Room

Step 0: Examine everything that's visible. Examining is a free action; examining things doesn't waste any time.

> x timer. (11 turns left)

> i. (nothing)

> x cord. x desk. (has top and bottom drawers)

> x top drawer. x bottom drawer.

> x panel. (Six buttons with different engraved shapes.)

> x wardrobe. x lock.

> x door. (No obvious way of opening it or knowing where it leads to.)

> x couch. x cushions. x ladder.

Step 1: Disable the timer.

> open bottom drawer. x knife. take knife.

> unfold ladder. (You can now reach the timer without explicitly climbing the ladder.)

> cut cord. (The timer display fades.)

Step 2: Find more stuff and open the wardrobe. You don't need the junk, gum, or coins.

> open top drawer. x junk. x old gum.

> take cushions. x coins. x paperclips.

> take paperclips.

> unlock lock with paperclip.

> open wardrobe.

Step 3: Use the control panel.

> x jacket. wear it.

> x wristband. wear it.

> push triangle. push square. push pentagon.

The nice smell means you did it correctly. A glass container on a metal platform comes out of a wall panel.

Step 4: Get the device and use it.

> x glass. (It's a cube, closed, has an eye, and contains a device.)

> x eye. (It flinches?)

> x platform. x device. (a one-button remote)

> stare at eye. g. (The eye closes; the glass opens.)

> take device.

> push red button.

Your wristband vibrates, glows, and you're back home, victorious.
