The Time Crystals of Cythii is a Z-machine interactive fiction game written with Inform 6 and is © 2025 by Garry Francis. It was an entry in the Text Adventure Literacy Jam (TALP) of 2025, placement to be determined.

In this adventure, you play as a young guardian of the Time Crystals of Cythii and the unthinkable has happened. Someone stole the Crystals and now time warps are appearing everywhere. Explore five historical disasters and get the Crystals back before your parents come home!

This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.

SPOILERS AHEAD. Reading a walkthrough prematurely can sometimes diminish one's enjoyment of an interactive fiction game. Please make an honest effort to play the game before reading this walkthrough.

Someone stole the time crystals! Get them back! Obviously, there's three of them, and they belong on the plinths of the same colors.

There's five time warps here.

Don't get confused when the game requires shipboard directions instead of compass directions.

You're done here, but you might want to linger to examine all these people and the equipment they're stationed at. But keep an eye on the time; don't stay until the explosion.

Time Tower of Cythii

You return to the time you left the tower, but if you were to revisit the Hindenburg, the time resets to 6:45 pm, but all the actions you did there still happened. You don't need to redeliver the note or anything like that. You're immune to paradox.

You must grab the coconut before chopping the tree or the coconut will fall on you, knock you out, and you'll still be here when the volcano erupts.

If you don't have the satchel, drop the coconut and silver key instead.

Endings

BUG: If you wait in the tower for your parents to come home, they never show. Instead, eventually the events of the Hindenburg disaster happen in the Tower of Cythii, and you die at 7:25 pm there.


Inventory

Whenever you need to climb a tree, a rope, or a ship's mast, or whenever you need to ride the log, you need both hands free. Putting everything you can into the satchel and wearing the satchel will help.
