There are three opportunities to die. First, if you're not hiding under the candy in the bowl after turn 2, the hand catches you and you are devoured. Second, if you don't fight back, the gummi worm will squeeze you to death. Third, if you're not in the plane by turn 17, the owner of the bag will devour you.

It doesn't much matter how you play out your conversations with characters in the game; choose whatever options you like. (Although, it may be argued that accepting the leopard's first bargain is far better than being forced to accept his second offer.)
