Smokey Garage (on the steel chair)

You're tied up, so all you can do is examine things or wait, for example:

After five turns, all goes black.

Narrow Gangway

Flashback to a few hours ago:

> d. (Only Zachary is allowed downstairs, and only if Rudolph sends him.)

Kitchen

You tell of a book: Silence of the Gods. Then four men enter and start shooting. One old man is father to Vincente and Vittorio Benelli, and he's also Hellen's and your grandfather.

Characters

• Francesco (Cesco) Mancini is the player-character. You're an adopted member of a mafia family.
• Rudolph (Rudy) Mancini is the boss of Hell's Kitchen. He's upset with you because you opened a door you were ordered not to.
• Three scugnizzi — Johnny, Tony, and Zachary — are torturing you in the garage at Rudolph's direction.
• Marcello is your younger brother. You can see him tending the garden outside.
• Grandma Elisella is Rudolph and Gianna's mother. Her husband Fortunato died. She ignores you and won't talk to you.
• Hellen Benelli is a captive in the cellars. She's your cousin.
• Four men enter the garage at the end of the story. One of them is your true grandfather.

Inventory

• your pants. You're wearing them in the prologue and epilogue scenes set in the smokey garage, and by "pants", we mean underwear. You may ignore them. You can't even try to remove them because you're chained up.
• a gun. You're carrying it in the main part of the game, but you won't be using it.
• a pair of trousers. You're wearing them in the main part of the game. Leave them on and ignore them.
• a worn shirt. You're wearing it in the main part of the game. Leave it on and ignore it.
• a copy of Doom III. Find it by looking under the table in the living room. You have no use for this item.
• a bowl of fruit. It's in the kitchen. Put it in the dumbwaiter. Someone eats the fruit and you automatically take the empty bowl that's returned.
• an empty bowl. Acquire it by putting the bowl of fruit in the kitchen's dumbwaiter. Ignore it, but the mere fact of it gives you the curiosity to enter the cellars.
• a blue notebook. It's in the bottom drawer in the studio's bureau. Read it to learn move about Rudy's dealings and the number "4876" which is the combination for the safe.
• a photo album. It's in the living room safe. Examine it to learn more about the family.
• a large iron key. It's in the living room safe. Unlock the bulky door in the cellars with it.
