Rock, Paper, Scissors is a Glulx work of interactive fiction written with Inform 7 and is © 2022 by William Moore (as "Masterful Interactions").
In this one-room joke game, you are a player in the largest Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament ever. Note that this minimalist work offers almost no player agency: you can either attack your opponent over and over again, or quit.
This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the work.
SPOILERS AHEAD. Reading a walkthrough prematurely can sometimes diminish one's enjoyment of a work of interactive fiction. Please make an honest effort to play the work before reading this walkthrough.
arena
> x opponent.
> ask opponent about ANYTHING. ("Shaddup!")
> hit opponent. (You and your opponent play a round of RPS. You don't get to choose anything.)
> g. g. g. g. g. g. g.
The scores are in the status line, but SCORE isn't supported.
And that's all there is to this one. One room. One opponent. An endless cycle of rock-paper-scissors. The game doesn't stop after 10 or 100 rounds or when either you or your opponent reach a score of 10 or 100.
> quit.
Was this a troll game meant to mock RPS? Or was it just a coding exercise? Either way, it was disappointing to play.
Opponent is the only other character you can interact with, and they're described as grody-looking.
Other players and a referee are implied. The arena's room description claims there's hundreds of people watching the games. Hard to imagine why.
This walkthrough is provided free of charge since the work it's based on has less than fifteen locations. Please consider it a thank you for your support!
