Practical Astrology is a Z-machine interactive fiction game written with Inform 6 and is © 2001 by Admiral Jota. It was an entry in the Speed-IF O event.
You play as Agent Hamburg, a stellar control operative, thanks to your acquisition of the definitive textbook on the subject, Moving the Stars. In normal astrology, one predicts the future by reading the heavenly bodies. But in practical astrology, one moves the heavenly bodies to engineer the desired future. Science!
This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.
> i. x textbook.
> x shovotronic. x dials. x mercury. x venus. x mars.
> x monitor. x alpha. x beta. x gamma. x delta.
At this point, you should experiment with the dials to see what effects they have:
> turn mercury to 3. x gamma.
> turn venus to 3. x beta.
> turn mars to 1. x alpha. x delta.
*** You have won ***
In that game you scored your-score out of a possible 1, in some turns.
This walkthrough is provided free of charge since I wrote this walkthrough prior to January 2015 when I began my Patreon account, and also because the work it's based on has less than fifteen locations (so I wouldn't have charged for it anyway). I've since reformatted this walkthrough to use my currently preferred style. I hope you enjoy it!
I'm still creating new walkthroughs! Larger ones too! Please visit my Patreon account if you're interested in helping me create more interactive fiction walkthroughs. I appreciate all the help I can get! Thanks again.
