Palace Walkthrough

Some opening remarks:

Outside the Palace Complex

>look sign. look gate. open gate. n.

The Main Palace Courtyard

To the west are some portable elephants, and to the east is a pool, both of which you may ignore. DON'T "go water" at the pool; it's filled with alligators.

>look statue. n.

Steps Up to the Palace

DON'T go west or east! West is a deadly snake pit, and east has deadly guards (even if you're wearing a guard's uniform and have ID).

>look entrance. open entrance. n.

A Large Entrance Hall

The rug depicts the pool of alligators, and the book is a bad joke. The chamber to be west has a mural depicting the snake pit, and stranger, a straw basket with a Chrysler Imperial inside it!? You may ignore all of this.

>look rug. look book. n.

A Royal Meeting & Reception Hall

You can ignore everything here, too, although the painting does depict the harem. The banquet hall to the west only has a table and chairs, which you can ignore too.

>look painting. look container. open container. look snake. n.

The THRONE Room !!!

The throne is important later.

>look throne. w.

The Royal Kitchen

Finally, something useful.

>look counter. look cupboard. open cupboard. look saw. take saw. w

The Servant Quarters

>look pad. look hamper. open hamper. look uniform. wear uniform. w. n.

A Private Dining Room

>look set. look parchment. e. n.

A Large Recreation Room & Den

You need the umbrella, but DON'T open it indoors (that's bad luck). The monitor shows the torture chamber.

>look machine. look umbrella. look monitor.

>take umbrella. s. s. s. s. s. s. s.

Outside the Palace Gates

>open umbrella. drop umbrella. take card. look card.

>n. n. n. n. n. n. n. e.

The Royal Bedroom

Nothing for you here. The safe cannot be opened.

>look furniture. look safe. look dresser. open dresser. look socks. s.

An Elegant Study / Library

This room has several clues. Read the message on the desk backwards. The paper refers to a cabinet in the basement. The tapestry depicts the maze and hides the secret way into the harem.

>look desk. open desk. look paper. take tapestry. drop tapestry. s. s.

A Second Bedroom !?

DON'T try to enter the harem itself; the guards will kill you.

>look bed. look box. open box. look key. take key.

>look mirror. look door. n. n. w. s.

The THRONE Room!!

>sit throne.

The THRONE Itself

The throne is either an elevator or a teleport booth. The game fails to be descriptive enough to tell us which.

>look button. push button. s.

In a Labyrinth Below the Palace

It's really not that much of a maze, to be honest.

>w. n. w.

An Alcove in the Maze Below the Palace

The mice are yet another joke. Elsewhere in the maze is a plaque, and a crate of golf balls, but you can ignore them. You can also ignore the rack in the torture chamber when you pass through it.

DANGER: You need the uniform and ID card before going west.

>look cabinet. open cabinet. look mice. push cabinet. w. w. w.

A Corridor Off the Torture Room

Best do what the key says, eh? The cell to the north has a rat; the cell to the south is empty. Of course, you want the cell to the west.

>look slot. look sconce. look key.

>insert key. pull sconce. w.

A Secret Prison Cell

Poor Penlope, she's been in this dungeon so long, she's forgotten how to spell her name correctly. Or talk. Or do anything at all. If Penlope is a dish, she must be a wooden one. Like, whee.

>look chain. look penlope. look saw. cut chain. take penlope.

>e. e. e. e. e. s. e. sit throne. push button.

>s. s. s. s. s. s.
