Midair Madness is a Z-machine work of interactive fiction written with Inform 6 and is © 2010 by Paul J. Furio. It was a participant in the PAX East 2010 Speed-IF event.
You're on a private jet owned by your Uncle Doug, flying east over the Great Plains. At least, it was flying until Uncle Doug, in an act of madness, magically stopped the plane in midair for reasons difficult to summarize or believe. Can you find a way to get the jet moving again?
This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the work.
Rear Cabin
> x box. open box. take all from box.
> x red bulb. x green. x purple.
> x left card. x straight. x right.
> e.
Forward Cabin
> x fridge. open it. take all from it. close fridge.
> x tail. x mango. x fetuccini. x plastic. ("450nm")
> e.
Cockpit
> x autopilot. x Doug. x windows. (The jet is stuck in midair!?)
> ask Doug about jet.
> x box. x mouse. x tray. x socket.
> put plastic in tray. put purple in socket. (The tray briefly sizzles.)
> x plastic. (There's an image now printed on it.)
Assuming S is for Start, F is for Finish, and the mouse is initially facing open space, we want a straight-left-right program for it.
> put straight card in first slot.
> put left card in second slot.
> put right card in third slot.
> take mouse. put mouse on platform. (A scroll falls out!)
> take scroll. read scroll. (You learn GNILLAF.)
> gnillaf jet.
