In this brutal parody, you play as the captain of an Iowa-class battleship, the USS Stevedore, currently in the Persian Gulf to support the troops in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Your every weapon is loaded and ready to fire.

CAUTION: The game's protagonist is a racist, a bigot, a sadist, and a homophobe. The game contains over-the-top violence, a huge amount of homoerotic innuendo, and intentionally bad room descriptions.

This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.

Walkthrough

Players should be aware that this game is a vicious parody of a specific author's style. I won't spoil things here by revealing who the real author is or who it's parodying since the target of the parody is not known for being a good sport.

The game In the Navy! can be found somewhere on the author's own website. You might remember the author for his essay on how he never wants to see the phrase "Nicely done!" in an IF review, nor gutless reviews of AIF games.

Lt. Engineer Roscoe Wong and Ensign Linwood Medrano are hunched together over the same terminal in the server room.
Dr. Garrett Hackett is giving Ensign Marcus Marvin a very thorough VD inspection in the sick bay.
Lt. Commander Arnold Ruggles greets you improperly in the ship's bar.
Lt. Harrison Walden is reading a book in the ship's library.
Lt. Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell and Lt. Tom 'Iceman' Kazanski are wearing only towels in the locker room.
Lt. Bruno Mueller is bench-pressing in the ship's gym while Lt. Warren Fitzgerald stands by.
Ensign Normand Shapiro is performing a lewd act in the deck 4 toilets.
Lt. Commander Carey Hargrove and Lt. Carl Browning are soaping each other's naked bodies in the showers.

Score

You have so far scored your-score out of a possible 300, in several turns, earning you the rank of ranking.

SCORING:

90 points for pushing all three buttons on the bridge three times each (10 points per button push).
110 points for beating up all the crew members (10 points per hit).
100 points for visiting Advertising Room 4.
