You play as someone who's been chasing a sock across North America for fifteen years. Once it was your favorite sock, but then it went bad. Very bad. Now it's back in Acapulco, hiding in this very shop.
This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.

Mentioned:
Police are mentioned in the prologue.
Few pedestrians are on the streets.
A construction crew blocks the way north from the Sidewalk, except it's really just their equipment and you can go north easily, so I dunno what's going on there.
An absence of scientists is noted in the Laboratory.
A proverbial giraffe is mentioned in the description of the corn.
Keanu Reaves is mentioned in one of the construction worker's Spanish quips.
A llama named Raul is also mentioned by the construction worker.
Inventory
an aluminum kite. It falls on your head at Sidewalk, Lincoln Avenue, when you first leave the sock shop. Tie it to the ear of corn and fly the kite at Sidewalk, Lincoln Avenue. The kite is gone afterwards.
an ear of corn. It's in the Laboratory. Tie the kite to it and fly the kite at Sidewalk, Lincoln Avenue to cook the corn. The corn is replaced by popcorn and a cob.
a pile of popcorn. Made by kite-in-storm cooking the ear of corn. Give the popcorn to the construction worker.
a singed corn cob. Made by kite-in-storm cooking the ear of corn. I don't think there's much you can do with it.
a dollar. Get it from the construction worker when you give the popcorn to him. Use it to "buy my sock" in the Sock Shop.
Score
In that game you scored your-score out of a possible 1, in several turns.

This walkthrough is provided free of charge since I wrote this walkthrough prior to January 2015 when I began my Patreon account, and also because the work it's based on has less than fifteen locations (so I wouldn't have charged for it anyway). I've since reformatted this walkthrough to use my currently preferred style. I hope you enjoy it!
I'm still creating new walkthroughs! Larger ones too! Please visit my Patreon account if you're interested in helping me create more interactive fiction walkthroughs. I appreciate all the help I can get! Thanks again.
