Key & Compass presents:
Face your fears
by Shawn Sijnstra

Face your fears is a Z-machine interactive fiction game written with Inform 6 and is © 2021 by Shawn Sijnstra. It was an entry in PunyJam #2 where it took 3rd place.

In this light-hearted game about phobias, you play as someone on edge. Uneasy. You decide that the best way to deal with this is to explore and face your fears one by one. The ending involves a really bad pun.

This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.

SPOILERS AHEAD. Reading a walkthrough prematurely can sometimes diminish one's enjoyment of an interactive fiction game. Please make an honest effort to play the game before reading this walkthrough.

Walkthrough

Grassy Field

CAUTION: Avoid looking in this location or passing through this location more than necessary until you're done with the shady spot to the east. And definitely don't turn VERBOSE on. If you trigger your agoraphobia too soon, you won't be able to re-enter the field and may trap yourself out of winning.

This is the response to CREDITS:

Many thanks to Fredrik Ramsberg for his part in convincing me to experience the other side of the interpreter and take up PunyInform, and to Garry Francis for providing much needed feedback on my first complete adventure.

Endings

Note: You can trap yourself in the shady spot by triggering your agoraphobia in the field then heading east. Likewise, you can make the shady spot impossible to visit by triggering your agoraphobia in the field then heading south. The author could fix this by either swapping the field and shady spot around, so the field is a dead end, or by adding a new path between the winding path and shady spot.
