In this small adventure game, you play as Dr Ego, an archeologist in search of treasure. Today, you're in an uncharted area of Papua New Guinea looking for the legendary Golden Egg of Man-Toomba.
This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 3 of the game.
SPOILERS AHEAD. Reading a walkthrough prematurely can sometimes diminish one's enjoyment of an interactive fiction game. Please make an honest effort to play the game before reading this walkthrough.
Wandering off the map usually leads you to "Lost in the Jungle". Read the compass to get back to your previous location. If you don't have the compass, wander randomly until you're unlost.
You cannot go north from the Jungle Path to the Temple until you've gone south from the Temple first. There's no obvious connection otherwise.
You cannot go north from the Clearing to the Valley until you've spotted the trail from the top of the fig tree.
There is a random chance that crossing the rope bridge between the gorge and waterfall will fail. You must cross the bridge at least once to find the temple. If you do fall, save yourself by whipping the bridge with your whip. You cannot carry anything heavy across the bridge.
Say XYZZY in the Valley to teleport directly into the Underground Tomb, or vice-versa to teleport to the Valley from the Tomb.

Extras
Amusing
This is the response to AMUSING after you've won the game:
Here are some amusing things you can try next time:
Whip the water of the Maro
Get lost in the jungle then read your compass
Use the magic word Xyzzy
Characters
Rompinjimp-Nanganbia Tiki ("Rom") is your guide. He can answer many questions, but not all of them.
Fish swim in the Maro River. Maybe you can catch one!
A monkey in the clearing may steal your compass. Bribe him with a banana. The monkey wanders around, too.
A man of the tribe, a carver, will carve something for you if you can pay him.
A hen wanders out the jungle and into the tribe's village when you need her.
Other men and women of the tribe are busy with their chores and ignore you.

This is the response to CREDITS:
CREDITS My thanks to Andrew Schultz, Durafen and Jason Lautzenheiser for testing this story. Your bug hunting and grammar feedback was invaluable. Additional thanks to Graham Nelson for creating Inform, and Emily Short for putting HelpRoutines.h into the public domain. Finally I want to thank you, the player, for coming on this adventure with me.
Ending
I died
if you fall into the gorge after the bridge accident.
if you take the Golden Egg without first putting the stone egg on the plate. You die from thousands of poisoned darts.
I won
if you enter the canoe with the Golden Egg.
if you sit on the stool with the Golden Egg. (This option requires you to have caught the fish earlier.)
Inventory
Note: You can only carry one heavy thing at a time. The urn, the eggs, and the trap are heavy. Heavy things cannot be carried across the rope bridge.
Read the compass when Lost in the Jungle to return to your previous location and gain a point. If you don't have the compass, wander randomly until you're not lost anymore.
When you climb down from the fig tree with the compass, you'll drop it. If the monkey is around, he'll take it! If you want full points, you must get your compass back somehow. (By the way, you can avoid this calamity by putting the compass into your satchel before climbing back down.)
If the monkey has your compass, go to the garden and whip the bananas (with your bullwhip) to make a banana fall to the ground. Return to the clearing, drop the banana and wait. When the monkey grabs the banana and drops the compass, take the compass!
You can't navigate the jungle without the compass. You can, however, travel from the clearing through the bungalow to the garden and back again without it.
my fedora. You're wearing it.
Leave it on.
my bullwhip. You're wearing it.
In the garden, whip the bananas to make a banana fall. If the monkey is near you, it flees from the sound.
If the rope bridge breaks underneath you and you're at Deadly Drop, whip the bridge to get back to solid ground.
You are unwilling to whip any living creature.
a strip of canvas. Acquire it by searching the rubble in the bungalow.
a yam. Find it by examining the vegetables in the garden.
At the river shore, ask Rom for the trap to learn he wants a yam for it. Give him the yam to get the trap, a pouch of seeds, and verbal instructions on how to use the trap.
a banana. Bananas are out of reach on the banana tree in the garden.
If the monkey has your compass, whip the bananas (with your bullwhip) to make a banana fall to the ground.
Return to the clearing (where the monkey is) and drop the banana. Wait a few turns for the monkey to grab the banana and drop the compass. Take the compass.
a piece of flint. It's the metallic blue glint seen by Waterfall.
Light the torch with the flint. It helps if you dip the torch in some oil first; see urn.
The torch will eventually dim and die after several turns. If this happens, re-dip the torch in oil and re-light the torch with the flint.
a bone. It's in the hole under the sun slab in the temple.
an urn containing some oil. It's in the hole under the sun slab in the temple.
Dip the unlit torch into the oil to coat it. Now you can light the torch with the flint.
NOTE: The urn is heavy. You don't have to carry it.
a stone egg. It's in the hole under the sun slab in the temple.
After you've found the Golden Egg on its plate in the underground tomb (see key), put the stone egg on the plate. Now you can safely take the Golden Egg.
NOTE: The stone egg is heavy. Fortunately, you don't have to carry it very far.
In the temple, open the urn and dip the torch in the oil.
Light the oiled torch with the flint. (You can't use the matchbook because the matches are wet.)
Use the lit torch to see in the underground tomb.
a drawing of the sun key. You rip this page out of your journal when you J SOWILU.
You know about "Sowilu" when, in the underground tomb, you look in a hole and see a Sowilu glyph.
At the tribe, show the drawing to the man. He mimes flapping wings to tell you that he wants to be paid with a bird. Give the hen to the man.
Next, give the drawing to the man and wait. He carves a key for you.
a trap. It's at the River Shore.
Ask your guide, Rom, about the trap to learn it's for catching chickens.
Ask Rom for the trap; he wants a yam for it. Give the yam to Rom. You now have the trap and a pouch of seeds. Rom also tells you how to use the trap.
At the tribe, catch a hen: DROP TRAP. PUT SEED IN TRAP. SET TRAP. WAIT (until the hen enters the trap). PULL STRING.
NOTE: The trap is heavy. Leave it with the tribe. Or return the trap to Rom back at the River Shore, if you're feeling generous.
a seed pouch. You get it when you buy the trap from Rom.
At the tribe, put some seed in the trap after you've dropped the trap there.
a stick. It's part of the trap until you pull the string.
You only need the stick if you must reset the trap. Otherwise, you can just leave the stick with the trap.
a hen. It's at the Tribe. Catch it with the trap and seeds; see trap for details.
Still at the tribe, give the hen to the man to pay him for his carving services. You know he wants a bird if you show the drawing to him.
a sun key. The man at the Tribe carves it for you after you give him a hen and the drawing.
In the underground tomb, put the key in the hole then turn the key five times. The Golden Egg appears on a plate on top of the lowered column.
the Golden Egg of Man-Toomba. In the underground tomb, the Golden Egg appears on a plate on top of the lowered column after you insert the key into the hole there and turn the key five times.
Put the stone egg onto the plate. Now you can take the Golden Egg safely.
At the river shore, enter the canoe with the Golden Egg to win the game.
