In this horror game, you play as Franz, a vampire hunter, hired by Romanian villagers who believe a recently deceased count is now a strigoi who has been killing their children. You begin outside the former Count's castle.
This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.

Extras
Characters
Countess Elga is the vampire threat in this game, not the Count. She has a hook nose and an evil expression, both when alive and undead.
Mentioned:
Villagers in a Romanian village hired you to kill the vampire. Several of their children died with puncture wounds in their necks.
The Count died shortly after the Countess died.
Hans Makart (1840-1884) was the Austrian painter who painted the portrait. This is mentioned in the epilogue.

Inventory
You have a carrying capacity limit of 8 items in this game, not counting worn items or items inside other things.
Items are listed in the order acquired in this walkthrough.
a cheap suit. You're wearing it.
Examine the suit to discover its pocket, then examine the pocket to discover the notebook inside.
a notebook. It's inside your suit's pocket.
Note: You can't read the notebook while it's inside your pocket.
Take it, examine it, then read it. You learn that vampires are repelled by garlic and religious artifacts, and they can be killed by driving a stake through its heart.
a ladder. It's in the stable.
Take it to outside the castle and drop it. Now you can reach the open window and enter the castle.
a knife. It's in the kitchen sink. You note that it's blunt.
In the cellar, sharpen the knife with the grinding wheel.
a silver crucifix. It's inside the wardrobe in the bedroom.
Carry it. You can't wear it because it's the type meant to be mounted on a wall.
You need both the crucifix and garlic before you dare open the coffin in the vampire's room.
a small key. Find it by examining the sheets in the bedroom.
The small key unlocks the kitchen cupboard.
a tin can. It's in the locked kitchen cupboard; unlock the cupboard with the small key.
Put the candle in the can to protect its flame from the wind.
a string of garlic. It's in the locked kitchen cupboard; unlock the cupboard with the small key.
Wear it. You need both the crucifix and garlic before you dare open the coffin in the vampire's room.
a matchbox. It's in the locked kitchen cupboard; unlock the cupboard with the small key.
Open it; it contains 10 matches.
In the bedroom or library, take a match and light it. The match will only be lit for two turns. Use the lit match to light the candle.
Don't attempt to light the match in any windy location, like the staircase. The match will be blown out immediately before you can use it.
a candle. It's on the reading table in the library.
Put the candle into the tin can to protect its flame from the wind.
In the bedroom or library, light the candle with a lit match.
The candle's light lets you see in the dark cellar.
a hammer. This small sledge hammer is in the barrel in the cellar. Pry open the barrel with the poker.
You'll use the hammer automatically when you kill the vampire with the stake.
a sharpened stake. Make it by sharpening the piece of wood with the sharpened knife.
In the vampire room, while carrying the stake and hammer, kill the vampire with the stake.
a large key. The vampire is holding it in her coffin in the vampire's room.
First, kill the vampire; see stake for details. After the vampire is gone, the large key is left in the coffin.
The large key unlocks the front door in the lobby.
a board. It's in the vampire's room.
You don't need the board. It's not large enough to cover the opening at the top landing.
