Black Thumb is a Z-machine interactive fiction game written with Inform 7 and is © 2026 by Bridget Hoang. It was an entry in IF Comp 2026, placement to be determined.
In this short game, you wake up in your bedroom. Your parents are gone, the dream for any teenager. Hm, what to do first? Why don't you set up your succulents? Echevrias, you think they're called. It should only take a few minutes. Today will be a good day.
This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.
SPOILERS AHEAD. Reading a walkthrough prematurely can sometimes diminish one's enjoyment of an interactive fiction game. Please make an honest effort to play the game before reading this walkthrough.
Note that when your bedroom is covered in vines, you are both unwilling to leave and unable to re-ascend to the ledge.
