Ancient Treasure, Secret Spider is a Z-machine interactive fiction game written with Dialog and is © 2025 by C.E.J. Pacian. It was an entry in Iron ChIF's Pilot Episode where it was the co-winner in the Non-Human Language Device Battle.
In this fantasy adventure, you play as the cleverest and most beautiful fairy of the land, but you're tethered to the Stranger by a silk thread. He, Trala, and Lind - an unlikely trio - journeyed to this cavernous chamber, but the last two are now holding off an endless horde of goblins at the gateway while the Stranger looks bewildered at the chamber's contents. It's time for you to take charge and find a way to the ancient treasure!
This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 3, Serial number 251118 of the game.

As a fairy, you have no material possessions, nor do you want any. So this section is about the Stranger's possessions instead.
Note that the Stranger only directly holds at most two items at a time, one of which is always his gadget. Let's call his other directly held item his current favorite. Other acquired items are kept in his overcoat pocket. Whenever you direct his attention to a pocketed item, he (usually) pockets his current favorite and takes the indicated item which becomes his new current favorite.
When you direct the Stranger's attention to something he isn't carrying, he usually first points his gadget at it. He may then take it (pocketing his current favorite), try to use his current favorite with it, or ignore it.
