Key & Compass presents:
Alma Mater
by Roger Carbol

Alma Mater is a Z-machine interactive fiction game written with Inform 7 and is © 2006 by Roger Carbol. It was an entry in the Speed-IF Neologism event.

In this tiny game, you play as a child on Mother's Day. You've bought Mother a nice card. Now all you have to do is give it to her.

This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1023 of the game.

Walkthrough

Kitchen Pantry Lobby LivingRoom Sunroom Garage

Living Room

> x me. i. x card. read poem.

> x Stev. pet Stev. (He grabs the card!)

Stev now wanders randomly all over the map. For what it's worth, the Pantry, Lobby, Sunroom, and Garage are all empty and you can ignore all those locations.

> x couch. n.

Kitchen

> x Mother. x sandwiches. x fridge.

> open fridge. z. z. z.

While your mother closes the fridge, steal a sandwich:

> take sandwich. s.

Living Room

> drop sandwich.

If necessary, wait for Stev to wander back in. He will drop the card to eat the sandwich.

> take card. n.

Kitchen

> give card to mother.
