Plans

For the Future of

Faeryland

Plan: Add motifs to all stories and dictionary entries, and cross-link them with the motif index.

Progress: This will be a lot of work. I've got motifs for about 20% of the stories and dictionary entries. I'm considering plunging into the source for the html server (Apache) and adding a special html tag (interpreted by the server) to make cross-linking easier. May switch to Roxen server, since I'm intimately familiar with Pike, the lanuage it's written in. The latter is a Plan For The Far Future.

Plan: Add a section detailing fairy sites across Britain, with maps for each of the counties (with image-maps for point and click to find what's in a particular region).

Progress: I've started work on Devon and Cornwall (which I visited last March). I need to consult with friends in Britain about this.

Plan: Get software for my scanner to let it scan in pages of text. Scan in several books (whose copyrights have run out), including:

Progress: None. My scanner is an ancient Apple scanner. Is there free software for MacOS (or linux) to do this?

Plan: Use inter-library loan to acquire various books I don't have easy access to.

Progress: I'll get around to it someday. I work right across the hall from the inter-library loan office :-).
